Westgate Hotel is a historic building in the
Newport city centre and is famous as the scene of the
1839 Chartist riot the
Newport Rising. Bullet holes from that insurrection can still be seen in pillars in the frame of the main door.
Originally a hotel, it has since been converted into a parade of shops and entertainment complex.
The Westgate Hotel is located right next to
Stow Hill.
